I give weekly meditations. I will present this weeks meditation below:
M-52 No Gate
The great road has no gate.
It leaps out from the heads of all of you.
The sky has no road.
It enters into my nostrils.
In this way we meet as Gautama’s bandits,
Or Linji’s troublemakers. Ha!
Great houses tumble down and spring wind swirls.
Astonished, apricot blossoms fly and scatter – red.

Although it can be important to buy artwork as a projected investment, it is wise to purchase works for their direct appeal to us either aesthetically or with respect to their depth of meaning. There have been far too many beautiful artists who were neglected in the past because they did not appeal to the commercial marketplace of their time. Besides, an artist’s investment value can never be projected with any reasonable degree of certainty – so why not purchase works for their personal value to you as an Arts Patron.
