Chorus of Dogs

Early morning at the Community Center Pool in Carmel Valley Village. The sun is gently rising against the soft Autumn colors of the surrounding mountainsides. Crisp and quiet, a new day begins.
In the distance, the sound of dogs barking interrupts the solitude. Loud barking. Crazed loud barking. A huge overstuffed SUV rounds the corner with two black labs jammed out of the backseat windows, barking furiously, straining for the scent of the parks green grass.
The howling intensifies. The SUV parks and out steps the dog’s master, yelling, “Quiet! Stop it! Sit! Quiet!”

Dogs Design Pool Bottom

Today, the middle of the week, and I noticed how adept dogs are at design.
One of the pools I take care of in Carmel Valley is the home residence of two huge dogs: Beowulf (Malamute/Husky/Wolf with paws as big as my hand) and Ben (Pit Bull/Great Dane/Irish Elkhound). These are sweet and massive dogs who howl and bark and look rather fierce as I approach their fenced backyard around the swimming pool. I reach for the main tool of the pool man, a dog biscuit.
